Statistical procedures provide reserchers with objective and systematic methods for describing and interpreting their research results. 

 

The goal of this book is not only to teach the methods of statistics, but also to convey the basic principles of objectivity and logic that are essential for science and valuable for decision making in everyday life.

The book chapters are organized in the sequence that we use for our own statistics courses. We begin with descriptive statistics(1.), and then examine a variety of statistical procedures focused on sample means and variance(2.) before moving on to correlational methods(3.) and nonparametric statistics.

To the students - Study Hints

• 순서대로 공부해라. 전단계를 제대로 알면, 다음 주제는 한 걸음 정도만 앞서가는 수준으로 쉬울 것이다. 제대로 된 배경지식을 쌓지 못한다면 새로운 주제는 완전한 미스테리일 것임.
• 한꺼번에 많은 분량을 우겨넣으려고 하는 것보다 짧은 시간동안 일주일에 몇 번씩 공부하는 것이 더 많이 배우는 길이다.
• 수업시간 전에 예습일 해라. 교수가 수업시간에 다루기 전에 적정한 세션을 미리 알아두어라.
• 수업시간에 집중하고 생각해라. 뻔하지만 실천이 안 되는 경우가 종종 있다. 모든 예시와 모든 말을 다 받아적는 것은 정작 그 말을 이해하는데 도움이 되지는 않는다.
